Signing of a Mutual Agreement of Cooperation Between
HELP University Malayasia
and
Britanna University, Bangladesh
The honorable Vice Chancellor of Britannia University Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Sattar paid a visit to the HELP University of Malaysia on October 19, 2013 at the invitation of its VC Dr. Paul Tuck Hoong.
The two Universities have agreed to cooperate and work together for internationalization of higher education in order to enhance relationship between them and to develop cultural exchange in the areas of education, research and other activities. The specific areas of cooperation mainly include exchange of students and faculty resource development.
The agreement will be effective from the date of signing for an initial period of five years. Thereafter, it shall be automatically extended for an additional period of five years at each expiration date unless any party provides written notice to terminate the agreement a minimum of six months prior to the date of expiration.
Finally it can be said that with the signing of the agreement the students of BU will get the chance to study in the HELP University of Malaysia. They will have to study two years in their mother university and another two years there. They will get joint degrees conferred by both the universities. Moreover, the teachers of BU will also get the opportunities to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D degrees from the HELP University.

Britannia University is committed to impart quality education to its students and make them fit for different spheres of life and society. It is with this end in view that the University authority has formulated a CODE OF CONDUCT for its students. The students of Britannia University shall have to abide by the following Code of Conduct of the University to maintain a congenial academic atmosphere.
- Every student shall uphold the image of the University through maintaining discipline, following high morale and achieving better performance in studies.Every student shall wear his/her Identity Card issued by the University during his/her stay in the campus.
- Every student shall have to be very polite and modest in their manners with their teachers, officers, and members of the staff of the University and pay due respect to them. Students shall abide by the rules of the University and are not allowed to break the general discipline of the University.
- Any sort of political activities is strictly prohibited in the campus of the University. Student/students shall not interfere with the free movement of the University student in attending classes or laboratories or field work.
- Every student should be dressed in a manner befitting to the academic environment of the campus. Improper and indecent dresses are not allowed in the campus.Students are not allowed to wear/use sunglasses in class rooms and examination halls except for medical reasons.
- Students are not allowed to utter any offensive language in the class rooms and campus of the University. Use of slang, shouting and violent exposures are strictly prohibited in the class rooms and in the campus.
- Every student should be respectful and cordial to the senior students to keep discipline and maintain a congenial academic atmosphere. Reciprocity is also sought and demanded from the senior students to the junior ones.In no cases student shall get involved in activities which tantamount to Eve-teasing, verbal/mental/physical and sexual harassment and the like. If any student is found to be involved in such sort of activities, the matter will be seriously dealt with and if found guilty immediate disciplinary actions will be taken.
- Every student shall take care and protect all types of properties of the University and refrain from damaging any property of the University. Students shall try to be economic in using all types of resources of the University. Students are strictly prohibited from writing on the walls, chair, table, furniture, etc and pressing shoes against the walls of the class rooms in order to keep the campus clean.
- Students are not allowed to hang or paste any poster, any leaflet or write any slogan or anything of the sort on the wall of the class room or of the building of the University or anywhere in its premises without prior permission of the authority.
- Every student should ensure and take care to put off the lights, air coolers while leaving the class room. They shall take proper care of the multimedia, PC, OHP, etc. and refrain from damaging such teaching aids intentionally. Students are not allowed to use or operate any instruments, apparatus, machine etc, or bring them in the campus without the permission of the authority of the University.
- Students are not allowed to take photograph using camera, digital camera, video camera and mobile with camera without the permission of the authority of the University. Students shall not use cell phones in the class rooms and in the examination halls and they should keep their cell phones off or silent mode during the mentioned period.
- Students should take part in all the programs organized by the departments and the University. Unofficial programs, meetings, parties or entertainments shall not be held without the permission of the authority of the University. Students shall not invite outsiders inside the campus without the permission of the authority. Student shall not form clubs or societies other than the ones formed by the University authority.
- The University campus is a smoking free zone. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the campus. Possession, use, transfer of or trafficking with all kinds of unauthorized drugs is strictly prohibited in the campus. Students are not allowed to enter any room of the building of the University, where entrance is prohibited for the common students except on prior permission of the authorized person. Students should keep peace and harmony among themselves. Students are not allowed to create violence and participate in activities detrimental to peace and harmony in the campus.
- The University authority shall have the right to take disciplinary action against any student for any act considered as unethical or illegal in the eyes of law of the country. Britannia University deserves full co-operation of the students to make the slogan - "Britannia University- Hope for the Brighter Future" a success.

The credit hour semester system has been adopted in the academic programs of BRITANNIA UNIVERSITY. A semester involves 14-16 weeks of instruction. Courses may be of different credit hours. Each credit hour implies at least 14 instruction hours per semester. The credit hour system provides flexibility to the students to complete a required number of credit hours for a program, in which the number of credit hours in different semesters depends on the student's choice and ability, and/or on a semester-based package. However, it may vary from program to program.

The BRITANNIA UNIVERSITY follows semester system. There are three semesters in a calendar year -Spring Semester (January to May), Summer Semester (May to August), and Fall Semester (September to December). Each semester will be of 14-16 weeks duration, which will be distributed as follows: 14 weeks for instruction, 2 week for registration and examination.

The evaluation will be based on (1) Mid-term Examination, (2) Classroom Evaluation/ Continuous Assessment and (3) Final examination. Continuous assessment (class tests/quizzes, presentation, term paper/ assignments, class journal, class attendance, viva etc.) will cover 30 percent of the total marks, and the remaining 70 percent is reserved for mid-term examination (30 percent) and the final examination (40 percent).

The BRITANNIA UNIVERSITY follows the following Letter grades and Grade point system introduced by the UGC as a uniform grading system for public and private universities in Bangladesh. The Grade Point Average (GPA) is computed in the following manner: A student may earn any of the five-letter grades on the basis of his/her performance in each course. The letter grades A, B, C and D are considered passing grades and also acceptable to continuing of grades. Grade F is the failing grade. The numerical equivalents of the grades and grade points are given below:

Semester Registration
All students admitted into a program within the BU need registering for course entry before commencement of teaching and learning in every semester. Students aren't allowed to attend categories while not registration unless otherwise special permission is given by the acceptable authority. Credit for any course attended by a student while not registration won't be counted towards the fulfillment of degree demand.
Date and time of Registration is obtainable within the educational calendar and additionally proclaimed by the department before registration. Students area unit needed to gather, complete and submit Registration kind (available from the Department and Registrar’s workplace) to the course adviser and/or the other employees authorize by the various Chairman of the Department for course entry and acquire clearance from the Accounts Office by paying applicable fees.
All students area unit inspired to complete registration inside maturity date. Students failing to register inside scheduled date might apply to the Chairman of the Department explaining reasons for not having the ability to register in time. Students are allowed for late registration subject to the conditions that:
- Students register within deadline of later registration.
- Chairman of the respective Department approves application for late registration.
- Pay appropriate fees including a late fee to be determined by the University authority from time to time
Orientation Program
BU conducts orientation program for all new students. Orientation program helps students to familiarise with University policies, rules and laws, opportunities, facilities and student support services. Orientation program provides chance for brand spanking new students to satisfy with the University Offices and Senior Executives.
Course Variation and Withdrawal
Only in exceptional circumstances, requests for modification of courses (course variation) and withdrawal are going to be thought-about for every Semester. Changes to course registration should be created among one week of the commencement of lecture in every semester. Late requests for course variations won't be approved and should lead to ‘F’ grade to be appeared within the transcript. Application should be submitted to the Chairman of the Department through the course teacher involved for course variation.
Application for course withdrawal ought to be submitted to the Registrar among one week of admission through the Course Teacher and Chairman of the Department. If the University is unable to supply the course that was regular to be offered, students can receive refund of 100 percent tuition fees of paid quantity.
Program Withdrawal/Semester Drop
Only in exceptional circumstances, requests for semester withdrawal/drop from the program are going to be thought-about for every Semester. Student should submit application at intervals period of time of the commencement of the semester. Application ought to be submitted to the Chairman of the various Department and approved by the Registrar. Application once period of time of commencement won't be thought-about.
A student are going to be allowed to withdraw once period of time of commencement of a semester just in case of: (a) serious health problem, and (b) death of an instantaneous loved one (husband, wife, child, father, mother, brother, sister only).
